Managing Writers
Hello
My name is Christopher Leon Farmer, and I'm a graduate student at Northern Arizona University pursuing a Master's degree in Professional Writing.

I created this blog as a final project for English 534 (Technical Documentation), a course where I managed a team of writers creating technical content. This blog relates what I've learned during English 534 and other classes, and how those lessons relate to managing writing projects.

My Story
I've served in the United States Navy for 26 years, and those years have been extremely rewarding. I've traveled around the world and met wonderful people from many countries and cultures, and I've had experiences that I'll never forget.

Professionally, I've worked as a technician repairing electronics, served as an instructor for technical courses, and worked with teams collaborating on many types of projects.
​
I chose to pursue a degree in professional writing because I felt the knowledge would benefit me regardless of the career path I chose after the Navy. I have a genuine love for solving problems and helping others learn, and the skills I've earned pursuing this degree have already proven useful in those endeavors.
​
Additionally, my education has opened new professional paths. For the past year, I've spent my free time as a part-time AI trainer, evaluating AI responses, crafting rubrics that define how AI should interpret prompts, and writing content across a variety of topics to teach AI to write better.
​
Whatever path I choose to follow after my Navy career, I look forward to applying the skills I've learned at Northern Arizona University as I continue to grow and to help others grow.
